Liminality is about the ambiguity and disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of a process of change, where the old ways have been left behind but the new ways are not yet fully established.
As I retire from a 40-year career as a nurse and starting a new entrepreneurial journey, I am in a liminal space. The term “liminal” originates from the Latin word “limen,” meaning “threshold.” It’s often used to describe situations, experiences, or spaces that are transitional or in-between phases.
I dare say, many can understand what this process means for them.
Liminal spaces are also the times between sleeping and waking, and falling asleep. Setting intentions at these times are creative opportunities.
In my case, retiring from a 40-year career as a nurse and starting an affiliate marketing business, I’ve left behind a familiar, established career where roles and routines were clear. Now moving towards a new venture that is yet unformed and full of possibilities, this transition period can be marked by a sense of uncertainty but also potential and growth.
Navigating the unknown is incredibly rich and transformative, offering opportunities for creativity and inspiration. As the shift occurs from a well-defined professional role to an entrepreneurial one, a new path and identity is born.
The unknown is where the promise lies.
Wonderful Opportunity 💕
Thank you for my new word today!
Liminality! What a wonderful word to describe your taking a new path while living a new identity as an affiliate marketing entrepreneur.

The word is new to me, too. But the feelings of being between two worlds is very familiar!
Liminality, a new word for me but this describes me when hubby and I finally totally retired from our 56 year interior decorating business.
Retirement is a deep dive into liminality!!
I enjoyed learning a new word thanks to you that I can share with my son in his Homeschool Language Arts Class. Enjoy your Sunday and have a fun week.
I love the word because it can be applied to all important life change!
Oh, what an interesting and important word (new to me!)… Liminality. Love it! Can be used in so many places!!! Oh, I can relate to your transitioning from working life (I worked in a hospital setting also, in Administration)…. I transitioned/retired early and actually ran my online business along with my working life, in 2002, when I had my first website, and then retired in 2006, and went into online business full-time then. I’m wishing you all the very best in your transition, and I’m sure it will be wonderful! Diana
I love reading about your success! Truly inspiring!
Kate, congratulations on concluding your 40 years of the nursing adventure! Thanks for the unfamiliar word, “liminal”! Reminds me of “limbo”. I’m! eager to read what happens next
